The Railway Coupler Striker is a primary safety-critical casting that forms the terminal end of the wagon’s longitudinal structure. Beyond supporting the coupler, it acts as a protective shield for the Draft Sill (Center Sill) by absorbing secondary impacts from the coupler horn. Our striker units are optimized for high-stress rail environments, providing a robust interface between the vehicle and the coupling system.

  • AAR-Certified Casting: Cast from Grade B+ or Grade C steel (compliant with AAR M-201/M-211), ensuring a high fatigue limit and excellent weld-compatibility with carbon steel sills.

  • Impact Energy Management: The vertical striking face is reinforced to handle repetitive "bottoming-out" forces from the coupler without structural deformation.

  • Low-Temperature Resilience: Every unit is normalized to ensure fracture toughness in Arctic or high-altitude mining environments, preventing brittle cracking.

  • Removable Carrier Wear Plates: High-manganese steel plates (hardened to 350-450 HB) protect the horizontal support beam from the grinding motion of the coupler shank.

  • Self-Centering Geometry: The internal throat design helps guide the coupler back to a neutral position, reducing lateral stress on the Draft Gear.

  • Weld-Ready Flanges: Tapered edges and precision-cleaned welding zones ensure a high-penetration weld with the car body, reducing post-installation inspection failures.

  • NDT Standards: 100% Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) is performed on critical stress-concentration fillets to guarantee a zero-defect product.

  • Dimensional Consistency: Gauged against AAR master templates to ensure 100% interchangeability for MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) markets.

  • Wear Limit Advocacy: We recommend replacing the Coupler Carrier Wear Plate when its thickness decreases by 3mm (1/8") to maintain correct coupler height and prevent expensive damage to the striker casting itself.
