The C80 series (including C80, C80A, C80B, and C80C models) represents China's primary heavy-haul coal transport wagon fleet, operating on 1520mm gauge lines. The coupler support seat is a key wear-prone component that directly affects coupler height maintenance and operational safety . During routine maintenance, adjusting the coupler height typically involves replacing the support seat wear plate, with metal wear plates available in 6–14mm thickness and non-metal wear plates in 8–14mm thickness for C80 series wagons .

The support surface features a recessed groove design that securely retains the wear plate while allowing thermal expansion and service replacement .

Coupler Height Management

Proper coupler height is critical for safe train operation. The standard coupler center height above rail is 880±10mm, with a maximum height difference of 10mm between couplers on the same vehicle . Service and Maintenance

Inspection of the coupler support seat and its wear plate is a standard procedure during wagon periodic maintenance. Worn components can be replaced by swapping the wear plate or, where applicable, adding a reinforcing steel plate up to 8mm thickness to the coupler yoke support plate structure .
